I have been in the human services field since 1994. My 27 years of experience includes working with individuals and families. In the last 20 years I have been working in a private practice setting helping individuals, couples and families with a variety of complex issues that arrive in life. Before private practice, I had 7 years experience working with people who have experienced trauma in their life. This trauma has been the result of sexual violence either recent or from childhood. I also have extensive experience in working with people who are involved in violent relationships.
Prior work experience includes intensive family therapy to help families stop the patterns that lead to abuse and neglect. I have also worked with families who have a family member that is mentally ill. In this role I would help families cope with the struggle of medication management and behavioral structure to ensure safety and compliance.
I have worked with teens in a residential setting who have suffered years of abuse and neglect and are in the DCFS system. I have experience supervising new therapists and teaching them the essentials of building a therapeutic alliance that is beneficial to change.
